		<description>I think, on reflection, that just being actively present was the appropriate response, yeah.  I did get to let her know that I was paying attention, as when we first got on the bus I jostled to get on first, then stepped back and pointedly invited her to get on &lt;em&gt;first&lt;/em&gt;, then got on after her to put myself between them.  When I did that she made eye contact and gave me a slightly exasperated &quot;please can I just be late to fucking work today?&quot; smile.</description>

		<description>IMO you certainly didn&#039;t do anything wrong - letting dude know that Disapproving McManlyPants is Disapproving was a good low-end option. 

I probably wouldn&#039;t have done more, because I find that by the time I finish my evaluation of a situation like that, it&#039;s changed enough that I feel like I have to re-evaluate (I&#039;m really slow at determining appropriate social responses to things). 

Were you able to catch her eye during this to let her know you were on her side, or anything?</description>
